Sleep With Your Make Up and Wake Up Old

I am guilty about this, especially when I am exhausted! My husband arguing a lot about cleaning my face before I sleep. Thanks a lot that I listened to him! I found out many reasons why I should wash my face before going to bed. One of these reasons is avoiding getting old fast. I don’t want to wake up one day realizing that my face is 10 years older than my actual age. Yikes! That is one of my fears.

Sleeping with makeup is a really bad habit that we should break. Even if it is just a light makeup, it can harm you! Only those princesses in Disney films that can sleep with their makeups on without getting old when they wake up. I have to admit that I dreamt to be a Disney princess, but let’s get this straight- I am not!

So, I decided that I should clean my face before getting to bed. Sometimes, I wash my face with water, but if I am too tired I clean my face using cleansing wipes. Although, wipes won’t take off the makeup that much (I only used this when I’m tired, promise!) What’s important is that I always make sure that I sleep without makeup on my face. Imagine, if I sleep with makeup- I slept beautifully then I woke up ugly!

I have nothing against any makeup brands, I just want to settle this out. Whatever brand you are using, even if it is a high-end makeup you should wash your face before sleeping.

These are the possible things that can happen to your face if you will let your makeup sleep with you:

  • Clogged pores
  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Acne flare-ups
  • Collagens’ breakdown
  • Dry and chapped lips
  • Eye infections
  • Skin allergies

I don’t want these things to happen to me. So, with or without makeup, I make sure that I wash my face properly with a cleanser and water. It only takes a little of my time, under 30 minutes I guess.

How about you, do you sleep with makeup on? Then, you should assess how old your skin looks like… As for me, I want to have a healthy and young looking skin as much as possible.

  1. […] No again! Acne is not caused by makeup stains at night. What you will get without removing your makeup before going to bed is older skin which I have already discussed on my recent post that you can find here. […]
